At English Toffee Labradors, we prioritize the health and well-being of our dogs. Our breeding practices are designed to produce healthy, happy puppies that meet the highest standards.
We are a small breeder, committed to raising beautiful, affectionate, healthy English Labrador Retriever pups. Our puppies are hand raised, in our home with lots of snuggles and interaction. We work on socializing them right away with handling and training. We love the Labrador breed, and are committed to their betterment. Our puppies come from long lines of Champion show dogs.
After raising four Labs, we had always wanted to have a litter of puppies. We decided to breed our girl Lucy (seen here) in summer of 2024 for the main purpose of keeping one of her puppies. It was the most wonderful experience watching each pup take their first breath – and we loved having our labrador puppies in our family for eight weeks as we prepared them to go to their forever homes. My daughter and I would constantly gush, “Our hearts are so full!”. After having one litter, we have decided this is what we LOVE to do! We don’t have a lot of puppies available, as we plan to only breed our females once per year to ensure health (and a maximum of three litters in a lifetime). We expect our next litter in the Fall of 2025.
We spend a lot of time handling our lab puppies – doing neurological exercises, desensitizing them to fears, a little bit of crate training practice, and we work on sitting and staying. When they go to their forever homes they are almost potty trained. We spend time with each pup, to ensure they are well socialized, and we love to rock them to sleep. Many of our families tell us they have lap dogs! We also like to maintain contact with our families and make ourselves available to be a support to them. We love our babies and send their new parents home with as much information as we can, and welcome them back for visits whenever possible.
The Labrador Retriever from a pure-bred pedigree is an affectionate, loving, and patient dog. They have a predictable temperament. They are very intelligent, and easy to train because they are eager to please and highly motivated by treats! They are loyal, friendly and make great companions for adults and children.
At English Toffee Labradors, we are dedicated to breeding high-quality Labrador Retrievers. We breed English Labs and only Yellows. Our focus is on health, temperament, and training, ensuring that each puppy is a perfect fit for your family. Our pups are Canadian Kennel Club pure bred registered and their parents have had health clearances through OFA (for their hips, elbows, and eyes). These we guarantee in our pups. The sire and dam have also had a full panel of genetic testing completed. They go to forever homes at 8 weeks with a puppy package of tips, some comfort toys with all the good smells, their food and some of their favourite treats. They are registered with CKC, microchipped, have their first vaccinations and check up, and de-wormed.
English Toffee Labradors is a small breeder located an hour from Toronto, Ontario in the beautiful Caledon Hills. We have the privilege of breeding Labrador Retriever puppies that live with us in our home (in our living room in fact!), where they get plenty of love and interaction. We live on acreage surrounded by farmland, so our dogs get plenty of exercise.

I can’t thank English Toffee Labradors enough! Sophie is my beautiful labrador retriever. I didn't know how much I needed her until I fell in love with the small bundle of fur cuddling into my neck as I held her days after she was born. Lesli and Scott provided love and supported me with help and advice up to and beyond the time I took her home. Sophie is very smart and beautiful and has a gentle sweet personality. She was easy to train and has become a very loving member of our family.
We couldn't be happier with our experience adopting our little Buck form Lesli and Scott. From the moment we walked into their home, it was clear how much love and care they put into raising their dogs. It's a warm and intimate environment, and we felt completely comfortable knowing Buck had been raised with such attention. Overall we can't thank Lesli and Scott enough for everything -Buck has been the perfect addition to our little family. Highly recommend!
We highly recommend English Toffee Labradors as a dog breeder. Their dedication to responsible breeding practices, attention to the health and well being of their dogs, and commitment to socializing their puppies are exceptional. The enviroment in which the dogs are raised is clean, loving and nurturing, which is evident in the happy, well adjusted puppies they produce. I would not hesitate to reommend them!
Depending on your family’s needs, a pure-bred Labrador Retriever may be the right choice for you.
The Labrador Retriever from a pure-bred pedigree is an affectionate, loving, and patient dog. They have a predictable temperament. They are very intelligent, and easy to train because they are eager to please and highly motivated by treats! They are loyal, friendly and make great companions.
There are two types of Labrador Retrievers; the American Labrador and the English Labrador. The American bred labs are generally taller and have longer legs than their English counter part. The English bred Labrador tends to have a stockier, and shorter build. The American Lab usually is more energetic and spirited than the English Lab which is generally calmer in personality. The males ideally weigh between 65-75 pounds, and the females grow to be approximately 55-65 pounds in adulthood. They LOVE to eat, so careful portion control is necessary to keep them trim. Excess weight can be hard on their joints and shorten their life expectancy. For Labs of a healthy weight, the life expectancy is between 11-13 years.
Labrador Retrievers make great family pets because they have friendly, good-natured temperaments. They are excellent with children and people. They are patient and reliable. They also get along well with other dogs but can be standoff-ish with people and other dogs if not socialized at a young age. They are playful and affectionate, and they require a lot of exercise. Ideally, they are best suited to homes with a yard to play. Apartment living although not ideal, can still provide a happy environment for Labs if they get their daily walks. Early training is key! Labs are very strong and will pull on a leash if not trained as puppies.
Training your new Lab puppy is essential for a happy and healthy relationship. We offer tips and advice on everything from potty training to obedience training. Crate training is something we recommend. Puppies have a need to chew and shred - if they are left unattended, they can be destructive of property. They love people and love to jump up to say hi, which is cute when they are little. However, this is not so cute when grandma comes over and they are five feet tall when standing on hind legs! They require very little bathing and grooming. They shed a medium amount, but this is significantly diminished with regular brushing. Nail clipping monthly is necessary and something you can easily do at home.
